Shri Krishna Kumar is a Visiting Fellow at the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), since his superannuation from Indian Statistical Service after working as Deputy Director General in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, where he was handling subjects including SDGs, G-20, Environmental and Climate related Statistics, Environmental Economic Accounting,  SAARC, BRICS, Social Sector Statistics covering health and education; and Population and Disaster related Statistics. As a Professional statistician he worked in various Ministries of Government of India. He also represented India and South Asia Region at Inter Agency and Expert Group for SDG indicator Framework (IAEG-SDG) reporting to the UN Statistical Commission.

At RIS, Shri Krishna Kumar is handling the work streams  related to Localisation of SDGs and Statistical frameworks, progress, implementation, monitoring & evaluation of SDGs; Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for SDGs; South-South Cooperation  and Triangular Cooperation on SDGs; Sustainable Agriculture, Food & Nutrition security and Water.
