The GDI would concentrate on knowledge gathering and dissemination, facilitating realization of Agenda 2030, given the considerable global importance placed on the achievement of SDGs. As the development process in every country is contingent on myriad factors that are often interconnected, the GDI would have to limit its focus on a select few. The important SDGs, to be brought under the scope of GDI would be Health (SDG 3), capacity building, skill development, youth and education (SDG 4), gender equality (SDG 5), and agriculture (SDG 2). Climate smart technologies for the agricultural sector will also be an important issue requiring deeper understanding in terms of their distributional impacts. In addition, some cross-cutting themes covering development cooperation (SDG 17), digital connect, quality infrastructure, climate resilience and building institutions for development are also proposed to be covered.
